THREE GOLDEN RULES OF POKER

These are more like three golden ‘DON’T do’ rules of poker…

Don’t drink and play poker

Mixing alcohol and poker is the perfect combination for throwing away a lot of chips. Unless you are just playing with friends for low chips, watch your alcohol consumption. Anymore than one drink to relax you will undoubtedly turn you into a losing player.

Don’t tilt

It’s important that you know when to quit.  When a player is no longer able to play a good game because their emotions cloud their poker judgement, it’s called going ‘on tilt’. If you become tired, frustrated or mad, take a break and walk the dog because you won’t be playing at your best.

Don’t bluff too much

It takes time to learn when to bluff and on what type of players it will work.  Take your time to assess the skill of other players and do not try to bluff them too often, especially if they are inexperienced as it will land you in trouble.  The other new players at the table may simply not be aware that they have a good hand so may simply call your bet to find out.
